What can Pilates do for you?
Firstly the Pilates exercise system is based on the work of Joseph Pilates, amongst its fundamental principles are the
- Strengthening of the core muscles, our centre,
- correct alignment of the body,
- control of the muscles being worked
all of which require
- body awareness
The core muscles support our lower spine, weak core muscles can cause back problems, strengthening and using these stability muscles kicks them into action, providing balance to the whole body, stability and an improved shape.
The emphasis on alignment of the body can help to improve posture, strengthening and stretching muscles to achieve balance.
The concentration required offers a distraction from the pressure of work and home, the exercises flow and although hard work most people finish a Pilates session commenting on how quickly it has gone, how much better they feel, less tired, more relaxed, less stressed and in a more positive frame of mind.
Anyone can do Pilates, the exercises can be adapted to suit particular needs or help rehabilitate from injury. We offer small classes with a maximum of 10 people so you will benefit from a high level of individual attention from our experienced instructors. If you prefer we can offer one to one tuition, this is of particular benefit to anyone with an injury or particular condition as each exercise can be adapted to your individual needs.

Pilates classes run on Mondays at 9.30am & 6.30pm, Wednesdays 1pm, Thursdays, 9.30am & Fridays 10.30am. They are suitable for beginners or the more experienced.
